Stephan Lawitzke studied economics at the Ruhr University Bochum, specialising in international accounting and auditing. During this time, he spent two periods abroad in the USA. He then worked for the international auditing firm PricewaterhouseCoopers in Berlin in the audit department, most recently as a manager and authorised signatory. He was appointed auditor in 2013.

Stephan Lawitzke has been an auditor and partner at HLP in Essen since 2013. In 2014, he acquired the additional qualification “Specialist Consultant for Corporate Succession (DStV e.V.)” and has since been particularly involved in the design of succession concepts and company valuations. His work is also characterised by ongoing tax and business consulting for national and international medium-sized companies. Statutory and voluntary auditing services round off his area of responsibility.

Philipp Röhrig studied law and tax law in Bonn and Cologne. During his professional career at the international auditing firms Ernst & Young, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Ebner Stolz, he specialised as a tax consultant in national and international VAT law in particular. As a tax consultant and authorised signatory at Märkische Revision in Essen, he focused on providing comprehensive advice to medium-sized companies, particularly in the real estate sector.

He has been a tax consultant at HLP since 2020 and a partner since 2021. In addition to ongoing tax and business consulting, he is responsible for the areas of digitalisation and tax compliance.

Friedrich Hegemann studied at the University of Applied Sciences for Finance in Nordkirchen. He then worked as a tax consultant in his own firm in Essen and founded Hegemann, Lawitzke & Partner GbR together with Norbert Lawitzke in 1987. He specialises in tax, economic, financial and consulting services for medium-sized companies. Supervisory board mandates and activities as executor of wills round off his activities. He was a member of the Supervisory Board of GENO BANK ESSEN e.G. for 25 years, until June 2022, most recently as Chairman of the Supervisory Board. Friedrich Hegemann currently works for HLP in an advisory capacity.

Norbert Lawitzke studied economics at the Ruhr University in Bochum, specialising in business accounting and tax law.

After graduating with a degree in economics, he worked at Westdeutschland Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft AG in Essen. His work here focussed on statutory audits of annual and consolidated financial statements at locations in Germany and abroad, as well as providing ongoing advice to medium-sized companies.

After his appointment as an auditor in 1987, Norbert Lawitzke founded Hegemann, Lawitzke & Partner GbR together with Friedrich Hegemann.

Today, Norbert Lawitzke works for HLP in an advisory capacity.

Burkhard Lechtermann studied economics at the University of Essen, specialising in business taxation and auditing.

He then worked at Westdeutschland Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft AG in Essen. When he was appointed tax consultant in February 1990, he was also granted power of attorney there.

He moved to HLP in 1990 and became a partner there in 1994.

Burkhard Lechtermann now works for HLP in an advisory capacity.

Tatjana Kurkowitz graduated from the University of Applied Sciences for Finance in Nordkirchen as part of a dual study programme with the tax authorities. During and after completing her studies, she was able to gain experience at the Essen-Nord-Ost and Essen-Süd tax offices, particularly in the area of assessment activities.

After successfully completing the dual study programme, Ms Kurkowitz completed a part-time Master of Taxation (M.A.) at Aalen University. During this time, she worked for a renowned medium-sized consulting firm, where her main focus was on advising large family businesses and related company successions and restructurings.

In spring 2023, Ms Kurkowitz was appointed as a tax consultant and joined HLP as a result.

Ms Kurkowitz’s area of responsibility at HLP lies in particular in sophisticated succession consulting and company valuations as well as in the ongoing tax support of medium-sized companies and private individuals. She also prepares annual financial statements and tax returns for companies of various legal forms.
